A mate of mine has this for sale,
The truck is fitted with a genuine 200tdi defender engine. This was fitted by Foley specialist vehicles, approx 5 years ago. Power steering was also fitted. Stated on the invoice is that the engine had done 49,000miles. Looking through the previous MOT’s the truck has since covered 38,000 kilometers, (all military vehicles clock in kilometres). This equates to approx 23,600 miles. So to the best of my knowledge the engine has only covered 87,000 miles. You are welcome to look through the paperwork (which there is a lot of!) to satisfy yourself.
The engine had a new timing belt, clutch; release bearing, water pump & drive belts fitted less than 500 miles ago. In addition the injector pump was rebuilt to fix the common problem of the throttle shaft bush wearing. The truck starts on the key and is A1. Likewise the gearbox and transfer box work exactly as they should with no clunks or bangs. A Gwyn Lewis stainless steel side exit exhaust is also fitted, which sounds fantastic.
Radiator is less than a year old. Fitted with Pacet fan electric fan and X-Fan control. The transfer box is also fitted with X-Eng disc handbrake - far better than the original drum style.
The truck is a truck cab soft top, the canvas is approx 2 years old, this can be rolled up completely. It is protected by a bespoke truck cab roll cage made by Whitbread Offroad. Its bespoke as the soft top is a different size than a standard truck cab, which means that at 6ft 2” I can fit comfortably. It’s tight to the body work, which is very handy in the trees. It’s made to an MSA approved design, and approved material and is fully welded to the chassis at 6 points. This is approx 2 years old, and the truck has never been rolled. The doors are the military type doortops which can have the tops removed. Ideal for competing in.
Also fitted are a set of Whitbread ‘Ultimate’ tubular challenge wings. These provide a far more robust option for the front wings, still keeping the land rover silhouette, but give a better approach angle. These are less than 6 months old.
Inside the seats have been replaced by competition harness ready bucket seats. Mounting points are in the truck. A full Wright Offroad fitted mat system is also fitted which is great for keeping the truck clean, and also reduces road noise. Under the passenger seat is housed the X-Eng split-charge running x2 Numax winch batteries – less than 6 months old. These are secured by a Gwyn Lewis twin battery tray.
The truck is fitted with Gwyn Lewis challenge suspension that provides fantastic articulation. This uses Old Man Emu dampers and Old Man Emu springs. In addition Gwyn also supplied a pair of 30 degree wide angle prop shafts from GKN.
The truck is currently fitted with a Devon 4x4 supplied low line winch bumper. Also included is a Gwyn Lewis 8274 galvanised winch bumper. This is less than 1 year old, and has only been used in competition once.
Protection wise, the truck is fitted with, Southdown Steering guard, Southdown fuel tank guard, Southdown rock sliders. The engine also breathes through a Southdown steel snorkel.
I think that’s pretty much the truck described. It’s always very well looked after, the diff oils are regularly changed. The engine is always regularly serviced.
The only thing that doesn’t work is the heater. It’s had a mind of its own for a while, and in all honesty I never use it anyway.
The body work is not showroom mint. This is an off roader, that was built to compete however it has only completed one event (3 Peaks Ireland 2009).
I am only selling the truck as I am starting to build a Whitbread Offroad 100” challenge truck:
http://www.whitbread-offroad.co.uk I have now removed the Simex tyres, as I will be utilising these on my next project.
I have also removed the 8274 winch. The truck is wired to control the winch from inside the cab and also externally.
Just to be clear the Simex tyres and winch are not for sale.
The truck will be sold as shown, with the 7.50x16 Mud Terrain Tyres.
Looking for £4000 ono.

Thanks Jon.
